About Alex Trebek
Alex Trebek was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, on July 22, 1940. He graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in philosophy in 1961. After graduation, he worked as a journalist for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
In 1973, Trebek began hosting a game show called “Reach for the Top.” He then went on to host a number of other popular game shows, including “The $128,000 Question,” “Double Dare,” and “Pilot Season.”
In 1984, Trebek began hosting the popular game show “Jeopardy!” Under Trebek’s tenure, “Jeopardy!” has won numerous awards, including the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show.
Trebek has also been active in a number of charitable causes. He is a supporter of various educational organizations, such as the National Geographic Society and the Association for the Advancement of Science. He has also participated in a number of fundraisers for cancer research.
In 2012, Trebek was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. He underwent treatment and continued to host “Jeopardy!” throughout his illness.
